Access Statement For the Lancastria, Blackpool

We currently do not offer facilities for wheelchair users due to no lift to all our rooms which are situated on 3 upper levels at The Lancastria. We have 14 guest bedrooms, 5 of which are on the first floor, 5 on the second floor and 4 on the third floor. The following statement is a summary of our provision.

Pre-Arrival
We are situated in the town centre - a walk of approx. 5 mins.

The main train station is 5 mins. away by car.

There are a number of local taxi services that have accessible taxis if required at all drop off points such as coach and train stations. We can supply contact numbers so that you may make a booking if required.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you.

On arrival, we ask all guests to call at our front entrance. entrance porch. There are steel handrails to both sides of the steps. The entrance has 24hr lighting.

There is pay and display roadside car parking on the opposite side of the front of the premises.

We also have a car park at the rear, with ample room for up to 9 cars. This is strictly on a first come first served basis. We ask that guests deposit their car keys in our safe so that cars can be moved if a guest is leaving. The car park has a level concrete surface.

We are able to assist guests with luggage if this is required.

Main Entrance & Reception
From our front gate, there is a tiled pathway with 9 steps leading to our porch outer door. The front porch entrance has a series of 2 steps. The inner porch door is always locked but we do have a bell press at the front door.

The entrance has a tiled floor with door mat. Reception Hall - On arrival, guests are required to complete our registration form and are then shown to their rooms and our facilities are explained. There is a hall side table with brochures featuring many of Blackpool’s attractions or shows available.

Public Areas - General (Internal)
Our Dining Room is on the ground floor.

The covering in the hall, dining room, stairs and upstairs corridors is short-pile fitted carpet. There are 13 stairs leading to a small landing followed by a further 4 steps to three of our rooms toward the front of the building and 3 towards 2 rooms to the rear of the building. This applies to our first floor, second floor and third floor. We have two chairs situated at the front door and in the patio area we have a table and an assortment of deck chairs and patio chairs. Access to this area is near the front gate via 7 steps, which has a wooden handrail to the right of them. The surface in this area is loose pebbles.

Public Areas - WC
All bedrooms are en-suite. There is a public WC available in the basement lounge area with 14 stairs down. The lounge has a selection of pinball machines, pool and TV. Emergency exit in this area is the fire door into the patio area to the front of the building.

Dining Room
Breakfast is served in our Dining Room on the ground floor and is accessed from our Reception Hall. The entry is level. There are 9 dining tables each seating 4 people. Chairs are without arms. Soft background music is played during breakfast.

Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and all other diets can be catered for.

Laundry
Laundry facilities are not available on the premises but we can provide the address and phone number of the nearest facility if asked for in advance.

Shop
The nearest shopping facility is on the corner up from the Lancastria within 30 second walking distance. A wide range of shops are available in Blackpool which can be accessed within a walk of 3 – 10 mins.

Outdoor Facilities
The beach is within 7 – 10 minutes walking distance. Blackpool Sandcastle (Indoor water fun) Blackpool Pleasure Beach etc can be accessed by bus, taxi or tram. There are car parking facilities which are pay and display. The Zoo bus stops in the town centre at the old Woolworth Building next door to the Tower which can be found only 5 - 7 mins away. This bus will also take you to the Model Village or Stanley Park where you can go boating or use the park. There is a cafeteria situated near the boating pool. Please ask for directions or see the brochures situated in the entrance hall on the side table for most of Blackpool’s attractions or shows.

Bedrooms
There is central heating throughout the house. The temperature of each guest bedroom is controlled by thermostatic controls on the radiators. The beds all have bottom and top sheets and a duvet. Each bedroom has a ‘hospitality tray’ with tea, coffee, and biscuits. In each room there is a TV. If you require the iron and ironing board please ask a member of staff. Rooms have storage space which usually consists of a fitted open wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet with lamp, or overhead lighting. (Rooms 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 12) In two rooms there is a built in closet. (Rooms 4 and 10) If you require a travel cot please ask when booking. Towels are provided.

First floor – Guest bedroom no.2 is an en-suite double and single room.

- Guest bedroom no.3 is an en-suite family room. (with 1 double bed and 1 single bed)

- Guest bedroom no.4 is an en-suite twin room. This room has a built in closet and dressing table with draws.

- Guest bedroom no.5 is an en-suite family room. It has two double beds.

- Guest bedroom no.6 is an en-suite double room.

Second floor – Guest bedroom no.8 is an en-suite double and single room.

- Guest bedroom no.9 is an en-suite family room (with 1 double bed and 1 single bed.

- Guest bedroom no.10 is an en-suite twin room.

- Guest bedroom no.11 is an en-suite family room. With a double bed and steel framed bunk beds.

- Guest bedroom no.12 is a double room.

Third Floor - Guest bedroom no.14 is an en-suite family s room with 1 double bed and 1 single bed.

- Guest bedroom no.15 is an en-suite family room with 1 double bed and 1 single bed.

- Guest bedroom no.16 is an en-suite family room with 1 double bed and 1 single bed.

- Guest bedroom no.19 is an en-suite twin room.

Additional Information
Children are welcome at the Lancastria.

Mobile phone reception is generally good.

We do not allow smoking in all public areas but we do allow smoking in some rooms. Please ask when booking.

There is a fire extinguisher in the entrance hall near the dining room door, and on the upstairs landings.

We are able to use the front and rear doors should evacuation be necessary and we have fire escape doors into the neighboring Guest House which can be accessed on each upper levels. The fire alarm rings continuously if evacuation is needed. If you need assistance in this kind of emergency (e.g. hearing impairment) please let us know on arrival and we will ensure that you are evacuated safely.

Walk-in Medical Centre : The Walk-in Centre at 26 Talbot Road in Blackpool is open 7 days per week between Mon – Sat 8am – 9pm Sundays and public holidays 9am – 8pm (no appointment is necessary)

Future Plans

We are currently refurbishing some of our rooms, these improvements to be put in place during the course of 2009.
